Marc Jacobs Perfecting Coconut Face Primer and Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter | Review

I've been asked many times to review the Marc Jacobs Perfecting Coconut Face Primer, so here it is :) Along with a review of a new found love of mine, their Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter!

I feel like I don't need to say much about the packaging of these products, the beauty of it speaks for itself. Super luxe packaging is what you get with this brand, and you'd expect no less! The primer and Gel Highlighter both come in the exact same style of frosted glass bottle with hardened plastic lids and pump. They may not be great for travelling but make for a beautifull addition to your dressing table!

The Perfecting Coconut Face Primer has a very lightweight, thin consistency and feels cooling on the skin. I really like the fact that it doesn't feel tacky on my skin like some other primers do, but has just enough stick to it to allow foundation to sit nicely on top of it. I find my foundation stays looking fresh for much longer when I'm wearing this! It has a pleasant, light coconut-ty fragrance, nothing too strong. I'm always hesitant to put anything too scented on my skin, I just feel like it'll break me out. When I use this primer I tend to skip my moisturiser as it is hydrating enough used alone, it leaves my skin plump and fresh, ready for makeup.

My favourite way to use the primer however, is to mix it with their Coconut Gel Highlighter. I mix them in equal parts and apply all over the face for a 'lit from within' glow that just leaves my skin looking healthy and glowing. I then apply my foundation as normal on top.

Dew Drop Highlighter blended
The 'Dew You?' Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter has fast become one of my favourite highlighters so far this year. The finish is unique in that it has no visible glitter, if you use it directly on your skin above make up, you're left with glistening skin that just looks healthy and beautiful without any cakiness or obvious shimmer chunks.

You can mix it in with your primer as I mentioned, or mix it with foundation too to give it a dewy finish. Used on it's own above foundation, you can highlight the tops of your cheeks, cupids bow and wherever else you fancy! I find it works the best used with a damp beauty blender, you need to work fast though as it sets pretty quickly. You can leave it as it is or add a powder highlight on top to leave your skin fully beaming!

I love the multi-use versatility of products like this, in this picture I mixed the primer with the highlighter for the dewy glow that you can see, making the skin look healthy. I also used the highlighter by itself on the tops of my cheeks and on the tip of my nose.

The Perfecting Coconut Face Primer and Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter are £32 each and available HERE

  1. I would recommend it to everyone as I have used it before. The results are brilliant and quick on the occasion of use. No side effects of the products either.
